NEED TO KNOW FOR VOTING:
The primary is April 4. Early voting is March 21-28 (except Sunday, March 22) from 8:30am-6pm at the following locations (this is for Orleans Parish only; full list is on www.sos.la.gov):
- Algiers Courthouse, City Hall, Chef Menteur Voting Machine Warehouse Site, Lake Vista Community Center
You MUST be a registered Democrat to vote in the Democratic primaries!!! This is super important because Independents, Others, etc. can only vote in the general election. (This rule is set state-by-state; that’s just how it is in Louisiana)
You MUST have Louisiana ID in order to complete voter registration online (on March 14 deadline).
If you’re a Louisiana resident but don’t have a LA ID, you can still start the registration process online, but you will need to print and mail the completed application along with proof of identity, and you have missed the cutoff to vote in the April 4 primary. Don't worry, there's still plenty of time before November!
Can't make it? You can register at geauxvote.com or download the Geaux Vote app.
