Across Catalonia, the later afternoon ritual of drinking vermouth (a fortified wine apertif) has been a cultural staple for centuries. More recently, cities like Barcelona have seen an uptick in the practice, with many bars now crafting their own vermouth in-house to promote a more traditional alternative to brunch.
A practice typically undertaken each Sunday between mass and dinner, at Bacchanal we're introducing New Orleans' first "vermouth hour" as a weekday happy hour special during the month of October, encouraging a little bit of Spanish-style, cooler weather day drinking. Order your vermouth neat, or add a spray of DIY seltzer for the complete effect, all while snacking on matching tapas, like patatas bravas and octopus.
